Gregory J. Philo joined Burke Blue in 2015 after a twenty-year career specializing primarily in appellate law. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications, and went on to graduate with honors from the Florida State University College of Law, where he was a member of Moot Court, won first place in the Duke University Moot Court Competition, and received the Professional Responsibility Book Award.
After graduating from law school, Greg served as a staff attorney at the Florida First District Court of Appeal for The Honorable Anne C. Booth. He went on to serve at the Florida Supreme Court in a variety of capacities over a number of years, including chambers staff attorney for The Honorable Barbara J. Pariente and The Honorable James E.C. Perry, staff attorney for the Clerk’s Office, and central staff attorney for the Court as a whole. During his time with Florida’s appellate court system, Greg conducted research and assisted judges on a wide variety of substantive issues, assisted the Clerk of Court and Administrative Justice with various procedural issues, and for a time specialized in extraordinary writs, attorney discipline, and amendments to the Florida forms and rules of court. He has also worked in the Florida Senate, an appellate law firm, and an elder law firm, and served as Chief Appellate Counsel at the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, where he represented the agency in appeals involving health care facility licensing, regulation, and discipline. Greg is a member of The Florida Bar, and has been variously active over the years with the Appellate Law Section, Appellate Court Rules Committee, and Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar.
Since joining Burke Blue, Greg has practiced in the areas of appellate law, real estate closings, condominium law, and business formations. He lives in Panama City, and works in the firm’s Panama City Beach branch.
